While most of First Choice customers look for
white sandy beaches, fringed by palm trees from their holiday destinations, a
week into First Choice's competition, to find the World's Most Beautiful
Country, and it's Latvia who is streaking ahead.
Since the competition launched, over 3000 votes
have been cast putting Latvia
ahead with a 25% share of the vote. While the more obvious destinations of Mexico and Turkey are in second and third
place. With over a week left though, anything could happen!
First Choice has been using Pinterest to find
out what online users think is the most beautiful country in the world. Users
can submit their own pin board full of images, through an interactive info
graphic, or vote for their favourite destinations via Twitter.
Entrants will be prompted to share a link to
their Pinterest board for the chance to win a Nikon D3100 SLR camera, or tweet
using the conflictofpinterest hash tag for a chance to win an iPhone4S.
First Choice has lined up a panel of expert
judges to decide on the most creative and engaging Pinterst board, and
determine the winner. All pin boards submitted will be judged by award winning
Travel Photographer Stuart Dunn, who works as a cameraman for the BBC and
National Geographic Channel, Travel Mail Online editor, Sarah Gordon and First
Choice's Director of External Communications, Fiona Jennings.
Nathan Timmins, Head of Online Marketing said
"We've certainly been a bit surprised by the competition results so far, Latvia is a
beautiful destination, although unfortunately it's not somewhere that we send
our customers. However, it's great to see so many users engaging with the
competition and so many entries being submitted."
"Pinterest offers a great
platform for users to show off their favourite travel photos and display their
love for their favourite destinations. We've already seen some fantastic
submissions, and I think we are all really looking forward to seeing what other
entries come in!"
