U.S. travel to overseas markets(1) totaled 2.2 million, down two percent in April and flat for the year.
Regional results were:
- Europe, 815,000 travelers, down two percent
- Caribbean, 545,000 travelers, down six percent
- Asia, 353,000 travelers, down three percent
- Central America, 180,000 travelers, up one percent
- South America, 125,000 travelers, flat
- Middle East, 119,000 travelers, up six percent
- Oceania, 41,000 travelers, up nine percent
- Africa,
25,000 travelers, down four percent
- Mexico, 1.6 million travelers, down three percent; however, air travel (495,000) was up five percent
- Canada,
647,000 travelers, down 10 percent; air travel (240,000) was down
one percent

U.S. travel to overseas locations accounted for 48 percent of U.S. outbound international travel.
- Europe, a 15 percent share;
- Caribbean, a 13 percent share;
- Asia, an eight percent share;
- Central America, a five percent share;
- South America, a three percent share;
- Middle East, a three percent share;
- Oceania, a one percent share, and
- Africa,
almost a one percent share
- U.S. travel to Mexico a 39 percent share; and
- Canada
a 13 percent share.
