Traffic Report of airports in Berlin and Brandenburg

Contrary to the general development of the market, Berlin and Brandenburg continues to report growth: air traffic grew again in July.

In the first seven months of the year a total of 14,899,677 passengers used the airports in Schönefeld and Tegel, a year-on-year increase of 4.4 per cent.

From January to July, there were 11,089,946 passengers at Tegel, which is an increase of 9.0 per cent over the same period of the previous year. In the same period, 3,809,731 passengers used Schönefeld Airport, a drop of 7.1 per cent compared with the same period in 2012.

The number of flight movements decreased between January and July to a total of 137,519 take-offs and landings, which is a year-on-year decrease of 1.3 per cent. In Schönefeld the number of flight movements decreased by 10.5 per cent compared with the previous year, to 37,479. In Tegel there was a slight year-on-year increase of 2.7 per cent with 100,040 flight movements in the first seven months of the year

Between January and July 2013, 18,978 tons of air freight were registered at the airports in Schönefeld and Tegel, which is a year-on-year increase of 4.5 per cent.

Traffic report for July:

In July 2013, a total of 2,502,630 passengers used the airports Schönefeld and Tegel, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 per cent. In Tegel, 1,871,413 passengers were counted in July 2013, which is an increase of 8.7 per cent over July 2012. At Schönefeld Airport 631,217 passengers used the airport in the past month, a decrease of 7.3 per cent over the same period of last year.

The total number of flight movements in July was 21,466 take-offs and landings, a drop of 1.2 per cent compared with the previous year. Air freight in July rose to 3,133 tons, an increase of 8.7 per cent.
