Novotel NY Times Square Debuts $85M Renovation

NEW YORKNovotel New York Times Square  unveiled its $85 million renovation.
The revamp was financed by owners Chartres Lodging Group, LLC; Apollo Global Management, LLC; and Lubert-Adler Partners. The John Hardy Group project managed the hotel.

Led by the design firm Stonehill & Taylor, the complete renovation of the Accor brand's North American flagship creates an inviting ambiance in the heart of the city, according to the brand. The renovation is designed to reposition the hotel for young, hip and edgy clientele who are drawn to the city for both business and leisure pursuits.
"We're thrilled to debut the 'new' Novotel New York today, and look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests to experience an unrivaled view of Times Square," stated General Manager Marc Sternagel. "The revived look of the hotel, combined with SuperNova restaurant and our stunning Terrace, offers locals and visitors alike a reason to create their own New York memories."

Stonehill & Taylor's design work starts at the West 52nd St. entrance and carries through to the restaurant and outdoor terrace on the 7th floor.
The redesign of the lobby is inspired by the concepts of celebration and passage of time, both envisioned in reference to the pop culture and New Year's Eve in Times Square, according to the firm. The lobby space features stylish seating and continuous imagery flashing on LCD flat screens.
The hotel arrival experience features ambient sound, video art, materials and lighting that surround guests from check in through to entering their rooms. Computer-controlled, hexagonal LED ceiling panels glow in different colors, complementing changing music and sounds throughout the day. The renovation further integrates the lobby and 7th floor public spaces into a fluid space with views of Times Square.

Each of Novotel New York's 480 guestrooms was refashioned in keeping with the hotel brand's contemporary "Next Room" design theme. Anchored by the backlighted headboard of a duvet-covered bed, rooms offer sleek furnishings, clean lines and vibrant colors. New features include decorative lighting; 46-in., flat-screen televisions; Wi-Fi access; iPad docking stations; and soundproof windows that open and close. Bathrooms are furnished with glass showers.
The hotel's outdoor terrace features 5,700 sq. ft. of space with walkways, tables for bar service, foliage and fire pits.

The SuperNova restaurant features a contemporary design and offers traditional American comfort food and classic cocktails with an international twist.
