Australia Attracting Tourists with Instagram

Tourism Australia is welcoming more tourists outflaw with its growing popularity on Instagram profile, @Australia. It has confirmed that the profile is the most followed holiday destination globally with more than 530,000 followers worldwide making it one of the most popular among travel and tourism brands in the world.


The infographic facts offer a snapshot of activity on the @Australia Instagram profile, including popular destinations to feature from each state, the most liked photos and the top fans who add photos to @Australia.

The Instagram profile has posted nearly 3,000 images but there is not a huge team dedicated only for capturing images. In fact, a small team audits photos submitted to the account. Jesse Desjardins, the social media manager for Tourism Australia, is only one of three people who manage the accounts for the organization but their impact is significant with the help of travellers and the fellow citizens. About 900 Instagrammers use the hashtag #SeeAustralia each day to have their shot seen by Tourism Australia.

A travel website, Skift recently noticed 2000 Instagram accounts of destinations as brands and out of the 200 most well-liked photos, 197 were from Tourism Australia. The average destination received 360 likes per photo but Australia gets more than 8200. Canada’s Instagram has 52,531 followers andSouth Africa has just 1098.
