Hotel & tourism industry executives to discuss investments in South Russia

Industry leaders will gather this week at the inaugural RHIC regional briefing from 24-25 April in Kislovodsk, Russia.
Organised by Bench Events and Questex Media, hosts of the annual Russia & CIS Hotel Investment Conference, in partnership with the Stavropol region administration and Chamber of Commerce, the event will provide a platform for discussing the long-term vision of the South Russia hospitality and tourism sector.
Vladimir Vladimov, Acting Governor of the Stavropol Region will welcome the delegation to Kislovodsk with an introduction to the region, highlighting what they government is doing to support new investment in the hospitality sector and why investors should get involved. Andrey Murga, Deputy Governor of the Stavropol Region; Michael O’Hare, Managing Director of Horwath HTL Hungary & Russia and Artem Shashkin, Managing Director of JSC “North Caucasus Development Corporation” will discuss the current state of the hotel market and the pipeline, what is driving demand, who is investing in the region and what the prospects are.
Scott Antel, Partner at DLA Piper Russia/CIS will welcome the heads of the following regional administrations to present their specific opportunities for hotel investors and operators: Zheleznovodsk, Yessentuki, Pyatigorsk, Mineralnye Vody, Kislovodsk, Kabardino–Balkaria, North Ossetia-Alania, Dagestan and Northern Caucasus.
Senior representatives from local and international operators currently in the marketplace will also join the briefing to discuss their experiences and how they have overcome challenges they faced, and to offer advice to new entrants. Operators attending include The Rezidor Hotel Group, Azimut Hotels, Wyndham Hotel Group, IHG, Accor and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
“The Stavropol Government has an investment policy that will create a favourable environment for both Russian and foreign investments to the region. The briefing will unite hotel investors, regional and international operators, developers and government officials who can work together to develop the regions tourism infrastructure” commented Jonathan Worsley, chairman of Bench Events and co-organiser of RHIC.
Vladimir Vladimirov, Acting Governor of Stavropol Region commented “It is a significant event for the Stavropol region. We invited only those that are either already operating or about to start operating in our region and the local investors responded at once.
