Martine Ainsworth-Wells joins ETOA

The European Tour Operators Association   (ETOA) has today appointed Martine Ainsworth-Wells to the newly created position, Director of Marketing & Commerce. The role will be responsible for the strategic management of all commercial, marketing, communications and brand activities. She will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Tom Jenkins.

Ainsworth-Wells was Marketing and Communications Director of the Mayor of London’s promotional agency, London & Partners (formerly Visit London) where she was responsible for London’s global tourism, business and higher education marketing, brand and communications.
Since the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games she has been running her own consultancy, Ainsworth & Wells. Her clients have included Visit Scotland, Visit Wales, the British and Irish Governments, Heart of London Business Alliance, Sebrae Brasilia, Liverpool Vision, Radisson Blu Edwardian London, Africa, South Africa and Wagamama.

Commenting on the appointment, Tom Jenkins said “ETOA celebrates 25 years as travel trade association in Europe this year. Each year our members purchase more than €12 billion of services within Europe and we are continuing to see our membership grow. Martine has commercial experience, a record of team building and proven capabilities in managing change. She will oversee a commercial events programme that is growing in both the number of workshops and those attending: in 2014 we will have nine events welcoming over 2,500 attendees. Her appointment is a sign of our determination to increase these energetically. ”

Martine Ainsworth-Wells said “I have watched the relevance of ETOA and its commercial reach increase dramatically over the last ten years. This is now a most interesting time: there are imminent changes to EU regulations, the reduction in public sector tourism spending and the emergence of new markets. I look forward to helping ETOA’s commercial division enable its policy work to grow.”
