Wyndham Hotel Group signs deal for seven properties in Peru

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Wyndham Hotel Group announced the signing of a franchise agreement with local partner Costa del Sol to open 1,000 rooms across seven Wyndham Hotels and Resorts branded properties that will open within the next year in key destinations across Peru.

The agreement includes the conversion of six properties, located in Tumbes, Chiclayo, Lima Airport, Trujillo, Cajamarca and Piura, to the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand as well as the construction of a new 144-room property in Lima.

“Peru’s economy and tourism industry has been growing steadily in recent years, creating more demand for hotels and offering an ideal setting for our brands to expand,” said Paulo Pena, president and managing director of Latin America and the Caribbean for Wyndham Hotel Group. “This deal with Costa del Sol represents our commitment to continue to grow our portfolio in key markets throughout Latin America to benefit our solid base of loyal guests who recognize the value of our global hotel brands.”

Next year, Costa del Sol will be celebrating its 20th anniversary doing business in the country. Upon completion of this agreement, it will own and operate eight properties under Wyndham Hotel Group brands in Peru: one Ramada hotel currently operating in the city of Cusco and the seven Wyndham Hotels and Resorts properties that are part of the newly signed deal.

“We believe in Peru’s potential as a cultural, gastronomic, adventure and beach tourism destination in Latin America and are ready to increase our presence in the country through the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand to provide our guests with quality service and an internationally recognized hotel experience,” said Mario Moustafa, chairman of Hoteles Costa del Sol, S.A.

The Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand offers upscale amenities and full-service accommodations in vacation and business destinations across the world. In Latin America and the Caribbean, there are currently 32 Wyndham Hotel and Resorts-branded properties across 12 countries which represent a total of 6,164 rooms. The company currently has a strong presence of 135 hotels in the region under its Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, Wingate by Wyndham, Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham, TRYP by Wyndham and Howard Johnson brands.

Costa del Sol is a Peruvian hotel chain with properties across the country’s most important travel destinations such as Cusco, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The company opened its first head office in the frontier city of Tumbes in northern Peru in the year 1995. In subsequent years, it continued to grow with hotels in Piura, Chiclayo, and Cajamarca. In 2010, the company acquired a Cusco relic: the mansion of the Marquis de Picoaga, an architectural jewel from Peru’s colonial period.
