Gatwick set for busiest ever Easter Bank Holiday weekend

gatwick airport terminal
Forecasts show around 480,000 people are set to move through London Gatwick airport between Friday April 3 and Monday April 6 as families look to make use of the schools’ Easter break for a getaway. Figures for the entire Easter School Holidays (Friday 27 March to Monday 13 April) show more than two million passengers will use Gatwick – an increase of 4.7 per cent on last year. Passenger numbers might be up but travelers have stayed loyal to the same top three destinations as the 2014 Bank Holiday weekend:
Barcelona at number one, followed by Malaga and Dublin.
Families travelling through London Gatwick this Easter can look forward to an exciting line-up of entertainment to keep children amused before their flights.
A Mad Hatters Tea Party will be taking place on Friday April 3 between 0700-1000 in the South Terminal where characters from the popular Alice in Wonderland story will be giving away 750 delicious cupcakes to hungry children and their parents, as well as inviting passengers to sample a tasty chocolate fountain.
Good Friday will also see another children’s favourite Willy Wonka flying in to transform the children’s play area into a magical Wonka World. Mr Wonka will be giving out 500 free Easter Eggs and 150 Golden Tickets each containing a surprise gift.
Meanwhile, younger passengers will also be able to meet Gatwick’s two Giant Easter Bunnies to pose for a photo, have their face painted and make a Happy Easter card for mum and dad.
London Gatwick’s Top 10 most popular Easter Bank Holiday weekend 2015 destinations are as follows:
  1. Barcelona, Spain
