France remains key destination of interest in ibtm world



Supporting the recent announcement that Paris has once again been ranked as number one in the ICCA city ratings as a meeting and events destination, France remains a key destination of interest for this year’s ibtm world, formerly EIBTM, with over half of all international Hosted Buyers attending the show, selecting it as a key destination for placing future meeting and events.

Graeme Barnett, Senior Exhibition Director, ibtm world commented; “According to a recent Euromonitor International report, MICE and Business Travel accounts for 12% of all international arrivals into France. Further to this, international arrivals into France are set to increase more than 15% over the next five years, from around 10.5m in 2014 to just over 12m by 2019.

“These findings reinforce France’s position as a leading global MICE destination and with over 15,500 meetings industry professionals attending the show, ibtm world creates the perfect platform to support companies towards promoting their products and expertise.”

Over 250 suppliers operating in France exhibited at the show last year with companies representing conference and meetings venues, hotels, destination management services, convention bureaus, event management production, attractions and technology solutions.

Valérie Ducaud, Convention Bureau Manager, Lyon Convention Bureau commented, “We’ve been exhibiting at ibtm world since the beginning and we participate each year because of the diversity of the buyers (agencies and int’l associations) and the quality of the buyers attending. It’s the opportunity to meet clients from all over the world in 3 days. As the world is also exhibiting it’s interesting to see how our competitors sell themselves as meetings destinations”.

This year, companies who have already confirmed their participation, allowing them to take advantage of all of the pre-show exposure opportunities, include: Accor Hotels, Paris Convention Bureau, Atout France, L’Auberge Cavalière Du Pont Des Bannes as well as three technology providers; Goomeo, Evenium and Key 4 Events.

Barnett concludes, “ibtm world invites suppliers from France to join a global platform from which they can conduct international business with over 9,000 Trade and Hosted Buyers.

“Barcelona has never been so easy and quick to access from France with the France-Spain TGV line, which connects directly Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nimes, Montpellier, Perpignan to Barcelona in a few hours and fifteen daily flights operated by Air France, easyjet and Vueling.”
