Tony Tyler, IATA’s Director General and CEO, was the guest speaker at the European Aviation Club lunch event in Brussels, Belgium today. In his remarks, he focused on the benefits aviation brings to Europe – 12 million jobs and a 4.1% boost to GDP – and he urged aviation policymakers in Europe to ensure that the European Aviation Strategy leads to concrete action and progress, especially in the areas of:
- Single European Sky
- Airport capacity and charges
- Smarter regulation
"Aviation is important to Europe today. I believe that governments will gain tremendously by recognizing our common interests and paying even more attention to the sector’s needs. And by addressing infrastructure challenges, building a Smarter Regulatory framework and earning a license to grow from achieving its sustainability targets, there is nowhere to go but up for aviation—in Europe and globally," said Tyler.
