Vietnam has been witnessing an increasing number of international tourists in the initial five months of 2017 marking an upsurge of nearly 29.5%. As much as 5.25 million travellers have been arriving here this year.

The arrivals by air reached 4.35 million passengers marking a rise of 32.4% against the same in 2016.

And, 730,200 visitors arrived here by road that marks a 12.7% rise and the remaining 167,800 people arrived by sea marking a rise of nearly 43.9%, as per the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Out of these, 3.84 million tourists were from Asia that is about 34.4% more on the rise year-on-year.

From China, there were 1.57 million visitors that represent a 55.5% rise over the same period. China accounted for one third of all the foreign tourist arrivals to the nation in the first five months of 2017.

The office has also revealed that there has been a marked rise in the tourist inflow from the key markets of Asia with as many as 889,200 people from the Republic of Korea, 323,000 Japanese visitors and 247,700 Taiwanese tourists marking a rise of 40.9%, 7.1% and 22.6$ respectively against the same period in the year 2016.

As of now, in 2017, Vietnam has welcomed as overwhelming 873,400 European tourists representing a 23.7% year—n-year growth while the number of American visitors have increased by 11.1%  to 370,100. Out of them, the tourists from the United States have reached 268,300 up 9.2%.

Tourists from Australia reached 172,300 people.

The country has also attracted 14,900 African visitors in this time marking a year-on-year increase of 34%.

The Political Bureau of Vietnam has issued a significant resolution on the tourism development of the nation till the year 2035. Tourism sector has been aptly identified as a crucial economic sector to promote socio-economic development. It is estimated that the tourism revenue would touch US$ 35 billion within that time. Vietnam has also set a target to become one of the leading travel destinations of Southeast Asia by 2030.
