The Finnish airport operator Finavia Corporation, Italian luxury brand Bulgari and global travel retailer Dufry have worked together to develop the first Bulgari jewelry, watches and accessories Pop-up store worldwide in an airport location.
“We are proud to have the magnificent and contemporary Italian jeweler and the master of colored gemstones, Bulgari at Helsinki Airport (HEL). Helsinki Airport is the leading Northern European airport for long-haul traffic and an important transfer hub in the whole of Europe. We focus heavily on the Asian market and hence, we have invested significantly in services especially for Chinese. We want to offer our quickly growing Asian and international clientele a smooth journey and a high-class passenger experience, all under one terminal roof”, says Elena Stenholm, Commercial Director and Vice President of Finavia.
Roberto Marino, Travel Retail Europe Director of Sales and Marketing at Bulgari continues, “This Pop-Up concept provides an excellent opportunity for our brand to be showcased to passengers and add variety and uniqueness to their shopping experience at Helsinki Airport. The design as well as our different collections are invitations for our customers to travel to the eternal city, feel the dolce vita and discover more than 2700 years of roman heritage that inspires Bulgari”.
The leading global travel retailer Dufry operates the Pop-up. “The extended Pop-up shop will be available to passengers in the non-Schengen-area of Helsinki Airport for at least one year. It represents another innovative retail concept, created as a result of the strong relationship we have with Bulgari and Finavia.” said Karl Walter, Managing Director at Dufry for Finland & Sweden. He continues, “With our decades of experience in the travel retail sector, we know that it’s important for customers at airports to be able to purchase premium products that represent the ultimate in terms of quality, as is the case here with Bulgari at the Helsinki Airport”.
At Helsinki Airport, an extensive 900 million euro expansion project is under way. Among others, the terminal will be expanded by 103,000 square meters, the number of bridge gates for wide-body aircraft will be doubled from 8 to 16, and baggage handling capacity will increase by 50 per cent. The aim is to strengthen Helsinki Airport's strong competitive position even further. The airport is getting ready to serve 30 million passengers meanwhile preserving short transit times, friendly staff and world class, innovative services.
