Recently affected by Hurricane Irma, the Caribbean Islands have been placed on high alert once more, this time on account of Hurricane Maria.

Consequently many cruise vessels are already redirecting cruise itineraries in this part of the world. Maria had emerged into a Category 1 hurricane over the course of this weekend. But then it is expected to follow the path of Irma in the following few days, ripping through parts of Leeward Islands and Lesser Antilles.

In fact a few of the same Caribbean islands had already been confronting the fierce impacts of Hurricane Irma.

A hurricane warning is presently in the cue for Guadeloupe, St. Kitts, Montserrat, Nevis, Dominica. On the other hand a tropical storm warning is in effect for places like St. Lucia, St. Eustatius, Saba, Barbuda and Antigua.

The National Hurricane Center states that a warning implies that tropical storm conditions are expected to sweep this portion of the world within the next 36 hours.

A hurricane watch is also in effect for the British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Maarten, St. Barthelemy as well as Anguilla. On its current pathway, Maria is likely to reach Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and then back to Florida Keys by Thursday.
