The tourism sector of the United States has so far been the largest in the world, it generated $1.5 trillion for the U.S economy last year, surpassing other countries of the world. The gross-domestic-product contribution and visitor exports of the U.S tourism ranks No.1.

However, according to a new research from the World Travel & Tourism Council the industry can capture more. It has been revealed that the U.S tourism grew 2.3 percent in 2017 as compared to 9.8 –percent growth for China, 7 percent in Spain ,6.2 percent for the United Kingdom and 5.5 percent in Canada.

Helen Marano, executive vice president for WTTC stated the WTTC’s Economic Impact Report revealed that the global travelers are preferring to visit other or new destination rather than the US or the places closer to home.

She further added that the international tourism market is growing at its fastest pace since 2010, but as per the preliminary data the U.S welcomed up to 4 percent fewer visitors in 2017 than 2016.

Marano mentioned that there were several issues at play and it would be a mistake to pin it on any one or any reason. International visitors could not afford lengthy stays in the U.S as the dollar has performed particularly well over the past few years.

The message the U.S needs to send is that it is open for business and the diversity and friendliness of the American people are an integral asset for any international visitor.

Brand USA has been heralding on the value of great adventuresome and cultural spirit of the country and the future of the global reader is to jeopardy if the existing trend dies not grow its share of tourism market holds steady.

The US is equipped with tools and the talent to reverse the situation, strengthening collaboration that exists with both the industry and the key government agencies and this is not the first time the U.S tourism saw a slowdown.

Minimizing the hassle factor will also be crucial for potential global visitors.
